I’m the Head of Hackspace as well as heading up the Imperial White City Incubator. I have worked at Imperial College since 2010 supporting Spin-outs, start-ups and students to launch and grow their enterprises. At Hackspace, I oversee the team to support delivery of programmes and projects.

My background is in art and design, with previous experience of industrial design, creation of 3D elements for print, film and TV. Β Previously I was the Head of Prototyping at Ravensbourne, managing facilities and technical tutors, developing prototyping spaces, underpinned by good working practices and inclusivity.Β  I like to design objects and systems that are helpful and simple.

I’m the Hackspace resident bio expert. My background encompasses medical research and synthetic biology, which includes biohacking at the molecular level. I’m particularly interested in using the principles of engineering design and rapid prototyping to soft-matter biological systems.

I come from a electrophysiology and cardiac engineering background so have a wealth of experience developing devices to record cardiac and neurological activation and stimulation. My passion is in coding and building electronic sensors and devices.

I’ve come from a creative environment working at the Arts University Bournemouth, I managed the central digital workshop, operating and running a collection of CNC equipment both for students and external stakeholders. I get my kicks from overcoming problems and expanding my diverse skill set.

My speciality is in mechanical engineering and I’ve been at Hackspace since day 1, so I’ve plenty of experience helping our members make the most of this amazing community. Previously I worked in special effects departments for both TV and film and am a prop development expert. I’m also the Departmental Safety Officer at Hackspace and am committed to monitoring, risk assessment and regular reviews of work practices.

Hackspace Fellow - Product Developer and Commercialisation Specialist

I have more than 14 years of focus on microfluidics R&D, lab-on-a-chip devices (design, testing and manufacture) and commercialising complex biomedical instruments. I have experience in all aspects of the product development cycle: from ideation through to prototyping, verification and validation testing, and transfer to mass manufacture. Additionally, I have a strong track record of inventions and entrepreneurship in medical devices and life sciences.
